Talks & Demonstrations

We can give talks on a range of topics relating to historical embroidery. These can be enhanced by practical demonstrations. Talks and demonstrations have been given to a range of audiences and sponsors. Previous talks have been given to organisations such as the Victoria & Albert Museum. Please contact us to discuss individual requirements.

Tudor Embroidery

A talk on the uses and types of embroidery during the period 1485-1603. A number of options are available the talk can be on the embroidery itself, it's uses, the techniques involved and the people who would have originally undertaken the work. As the use of embroidery changed during the sixteenth century quite dramatically an overview talk of these changes is also possible.

Elizabethan Embroidery

Similar to the talk above except that it is restricted to the period 1558-1603. Consequently more emphasis is placed on domestic and costume embroideries as these are in greater evidence during this period. Sample reproduction peices are available to enhance the talk.
